[edit] Job description

Dark Magicians are the caster class of the the Asura race. They possess a wide range of offensive magic. They have direct damage spells, area of effect (AoE) spells, along with a few curses and buffs. The Dark Magician uses spells that drain and weaken the enemy. Dark Magicians also have the ability to release large bursts of damage in a short period of time, but they must be mindful not to burn through all of their mana too quickly.

Strength:

  • Two spammable ranged M.Atk skills (can alternate for very fast attacks)
  • AOE buffs: Bonus P.Atk (additional damage) for normal attacks, increase AtkSpd
  • Life Leech, Corpse HP Absorb, Corpse MP Absorb
  • Crowd Control/debuffs
  • Damage over time spells
  • They do plenty of direct damage or burst damage with spells. They also have Area of Effect (aka AOE) spells to damage targets in an area.

Weakness:

  • Very low P.Def (defense from physical attacks)
  • Very low Max HP (can't take many hits)
  • Essentially no P.Atk skills
  • They have minimal hit points and physical defense. The biggest weakness is that they can't take much physical hits
  • Very hard to solo, if you don't have a good pet that can take all damage

Dark Magicians (and its second class transfer, warlock or chaos magician) can wear Magician Costume which provide decent Magical Defense (aka M.Def) but bad Physical Defense (aka P.Def).

From the Job Level 1 Passive skills regarding weaponry, Dirks and Staves are favored by the skill tree. Since Epic 4, a Two-Handed Staff is the recommended weapon due to its high M.Atk.
